I really enjoy this class!
I think we (the students) have a golden opportunity to learn more about ourselves and each other. Sometimes classes like this one can initally come off like a "busy work" class, or at least that would've been my opinion 10years ago when I was a nineteen year old. Now that I have had experience working the fashion industry and other creativity driven venues, I know that being able to communicate your inspiration and concept are extremely important. I also enjoy the disscussion sessions and the assignments. It's cool...anywhoo let me move on yesterday's class notes (although there weren't many to take).
Our introduction to Bruce Nauman and Kerry James Marshall was very interesting. Watching the video about their creative processes was a good start to the class. I as I build in my creative work it is helpful to see how someone else does it. By no means am I into copying...but it is helpful to objectively look at someone else and see your reflection in them or NOT...(lol). It helps you gain clarity about how you want to do things or change directions or whatever. I really got into the Kerry James Marshall exerpt because he is methodical and free all at the sametime and that is how I am. I like that he contiued to acknowledge his influences throughout the video and he is a natural teacher.
